Forklift Training

The Sector education training authority, (SETA) in this case – the Transport Education Training Authority (TETA) .

We’re With You Every Step

We can apply our Forklift training programs to various forklift types like Forklift, Reach Truck, Order Picker, Pedestrian Controlled Stacker, Pallet Truck and Rough Terrain Equipment.

FORKLIFTcourse requirements

Knowing that we are TETA and SAQA approved provides you with an assurance that we are professionals in our field. In fact, the original forklift courses were based on our recommendations.

Not only should companies be aware of the safety requirement for their forklifts, but should also have their operators trained to the highest standards possible.  We advise that all managers and supervisors, who are involved with the operators, attend our Forklift Management Seminar.  This tool will reinforce training done by the Company. Our Forklift Evaluation comprises three tests: Theory Test, Practical Machine Check Test and the ever-important Practical Driving and Manoeuvring Test, for those tight corners.

LEARNER ROLE &  RESPONSIBILITIES

During the training, the Operator is encouraged to take part in the activities and, wherever they feel necessary, ask questions and enter discussions that have meaning to the topic.  The training is meant to enable the Operator to master the skills, and this can only be done by the Operators making the effort to learn.

Our facilitator’s purpose is to guide and assist the Operator on the path to competency.  While the training is not necessarily a part of the productive work place, operators will be expected to behave in a manner required in the work place whether it is wearing of personal protective equipment where necessary or any other general ethic.

The Workbook provided is a reference book and a workbook combined, and must be completed and kept safe for Assessment purposes.

FACILITATOR ROLE &  RESPONSIBILITIES

The Operator credited with the Unit Standard is able to operate a counter-balanced lift truck or Crane in a safe manner. They will also be able to conduct pre and post inspections to ensure the performance of the lift truck. The Operator will be able to handle the loading and storage of freight by using the equipment and its accessories in the required manner. They will also be able to access emergency system and services in the event of an incident or accident.

We advise that all managers and supervisors, who are involved with the operators, attend our Forklift Management Seminar.

This tool will reinforce training done by the Company. Should you require a Seminar please contact us.

Training forFORKLIFT, REACH & PALLET TRUCK

In terms of the law, operators have to be in possession of a valid operating certificate. An accredited training Centre issues the certificate. Certificates are valid for 2 years. At Accredited Training, we firmly believe that training should yield benefits, far more substantial than “a Certificate”.

Once operators are trained, the Company should see

Increased Productivity
0%
Decrease in loss and / or damage to property
0%
Increase in Safety
0%
Decrease in Maintenance costs
0%

Novice Training

All course material used is approved by TETA according SAQA standards

In terms of the law, an operator who has never been trained (even if he or she has operated a machine previously), must attend 40 hours training.  This usually takes the form of a five-day course.  Approximately 20% of the course is the theory, covering the machine checks and safety rules.  The remaining 80% is practical, training the operators to drive both correctly and safely.

Productivity also plays a part in this course.

Although a forklift might appear to be really simple, this machine in the hands of the wrong person can be a killer. Therefore, training to use this machine can’t be done in one day. Our expertise lies where employee and machinery meet and operate in harmony.

Here at Accredited Training, we strive to make sure that all our operators pass our courses. We don’t base our courses on just passing a test, but on being able to get operators ready for day-to-day forklift use, to the highest standards possible.

Re-certification Training

All course material used is approved by TETA according SAQA standards.

We firmly believe that the regular annual re-evaluation of the operators saves the Company a great deal of money in training fees as well as reduced machine maintenance costs and loss/damage to the product.   If your company has made use of us for their initial training, you can expect to receive a reminder that your operators are due for re-certification.

This training course is directed towards those operators whose certificate is about to expire.

Although these operators can operate the Forklift, they have developed bad habits and can be a danger to the machine and to those around them. In this course, we focus on eliminating bad driving habits and also take trainees through challenging exercises. This helps them improve safety and productivity.

Our forklift training covers machines from the reach truck to the powered pallet trucks, counterbalance forklift and even to the largest Very narrow aisle machines and Container Handlers.

Crane training

We offer on-site training for companies using Overhead Gantry for Truck Mounted Cranes, Mobile Elevated Working Platforms and Boom Handlers. At Accredited Training, we ensure that all operators enrolled are competent, as required by TETA, in their theory, practical and machine check tests before putting them out in the field.

After completing training the Operators will be fully competent and confident in doing their job. Like the Forklift Operators all Crane Operators need to apply every second year for a renewal of their licences.
